Hand building workshop taking place in a local barn.
Claywirks generously fired some pots for the Derbyshire based charity The Isabella Peatfield Memorial Fund recently, following a fundraising pottery workshop. The Fund supports children in Sri Lanka, building playgrounds, supporting orphanages, providing school uniforms and books and funding girls’ education in memory of Isabella Peatfield who lost her life in the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami in Sri Lanka when she was five years old.
The one day workshop was run by former Claywirks member Andrea Leigh and gave participants the chance to try their hand making at pinch, coil and slab pots.
Thanks to Claywirks, the participants’ work was quickly fired.

“An absolute treat to spend a day picking up some invaluable tips and tricks from renowned potter John Wheeldon. Truly honoured. And I have a new partner in crime, lovely Rosie from Claywirks, Wirksworth!!! #pottery #clay #hoorayforclay #johnwheeldon #wirksworth #oxfordceramicsfair #cpa #ceramics #ceramicreview #contemporaryart #ceramicscentre #art #craft #claywirks”
