Claywirks at Wirksworth Festival Art and Architecture Trail 2017
by Claywirks on 25th July 2017 Comments Off on Claywirks at Wirksworth Festival Art and Architecture Trail 2017
Members of Claywirks will once again be exhibiting at Wirksworth Festival’s Art and Architecture Trail on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September.
“Running for over 20 years, Wirksworth Festival has become one of the most vibrant showcases for contemporary art that you’ll find in rural England. During our trailblazing Art & Architecture Trail Weekend, the entire town becomes a gallery with over 150 artists and designer makers exhibiting and selling their work in more than 70 venues – in homes ranging from charming stone cottages to impressive Georgian townhouses, historic and quirky buildings, gardens, courtyards, shop windows and churches. It is the perfect way to meet artists, buy affordable art and take a look inside some of Derbyshire’s most exquisite homes.”

by Claywirks on 23rd May 2016 Comments Off on Claywirks supporting Derbyshire based charity The Isabella Peatfield Memorial FundClaywirks generously fired some pots for the Derbyshire based charity The Isabella Peatfield Memorial Fund recently, following a fundraising pottery workshop. The Fund supports children in Sri Lanka, building playgrounds, supporting orphanages, providing school uniforms and books and funding girls’ education in memory of Isabella Peatfield who lost her life in the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami in Sri Lanka when she was five years old.
The one day workshop was run by former Claywirks member Andrea Leigh and gave participants the chance to try their hand making at pinch, coil and slab pots.
Thanks to Claywirks, the participants’ work was quickly fired.
